Miss Teen San Antonio Pageant 2010

In October I had the honor of being asked to judge the Miss Teen San Antonio Pageant. What a wonderful experience to meet a group of such talented and charming young ladies. Here's a photo of my fellow panel of judges and I for the jr. teen division and the Miss San Antonio Jr. Teen division winner Clarissa Castillo

Studio Boudoir Photography

I had the pleasure of working with Anita recently on three boudoir photo shoots. And all I can say is Anita is pure magic. She knows how to capture these girls at their best angles and at the just the right moment. Her style is a perfect balance of posed and candid. Her pictures are so amazingly romantic, sultry and edgy at the same time. Aside from her beautiful work, she's also such a pleasure to work with. She made the girls feel not only beautiful, but also confident and empowered. She's on time, professional, and organized. I'm thrilled to be working with her and am very excited about our future endeavors. Thanks Anita!

Grace

I had the pleasure of giving a make over and lesson to Grace Ueoka this week. Grace will be one of the judges for this years Miss Hawaii Filipina Pagent that will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.Grace has the distinction of being Miss Maui Filipina in 1974.

She needed a head shot for the brochure, so we enlisted the fabulously talented Angelina Hills of Aloha Portraits for this photo shoot. http://www.alohaportraits.com

Women Helping Women Tea Party

This Sunday My dear friend Liz of Maui Makeup Artistry and I freelanced for MAC Cosmetics. We did touch ups and Alice in Wonderland themed makeup for all the lovely ladies who came out to attend the Women Helping Women Tea Party. This year the theme was Women in Wonderland. It took place at the Molokini Lookout overlooking Gannon’s: A Pacific View Restaurant in Wailea.
Everyone dressed to the nines in costume as their favorite character from the beloved story. I met the enchanting owner of Enchantress, and Fifi & Bootzie Boutique Britta while doing her makeup. She was dressed as a fellow Alice like myself.I loved her costume! I just had to share a picture we took together with Liz.

What a whimsical afternoon it was! And such a worthy cause.

The mission of Women Helping Women is to end domestic violence through advocacy, education and prevention, and offer safety, support and empowerment to all victims of domestic violence throughout Maui County. The Women Helping Women’s shelter and support programs include the Hale Lokomaika‘i emergency shelter for battered women and their children, a Domestic Violence Hotline, Temporary Restraining Order preparation and court advocacy, community-based domestic violence education and support groups for women and children, positive parenting groups and a Transitions Project.

In addition to attending, there are many ways to help Women Helping Women make this annual event a success. For more information on donating an item for auction, purchasing ad space in the program or becoming a sponsor, download a donor kit, which is available on the Women Helping Women Website at www.whwmaui.net.

Women Wine & Shoes

Last week I was apart of the makeup crew along with my good friend Jessica Waite and her assistant Leah for the fashion show of Women, Wine & Shoes a Proceeds benefit for Imua Family Services. Imua's mission is to provide comprehensive early childhood development services to children and their families with the support and resources needed to achieve their full potential in life.

The Event was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Wailea. All the beautiful people came to shop the latest shoe fashions in the Boutique Mareketplace while sipping wine and enjoying hors d'oeuvres!

Here are couple of photos of the girls wearing the pieces from the amazing clothing and jewelry lines that were featured in the fashion show. My favorite pieces were of course from my favorite boutique Biasa Rose.

Ciao!

Prom

Some of my best memories were from High School. Especially when it was time for banquets and proms! Getting all dolled up for me was the highlight of the event.

That was twelve years ago!

In honor of Prom and Banquet season, here are some pictures of the makeup I did for Tiffany who attended my Alma Mater Baldwin High Schools Prom. Her dress was so beautiful and bright that we decided to have her makeup be soft and luminous so it would compliment but not overpower her dress. She looked like a modern day Cinderella!

*Fashionable Tips for a Faboulous Prom*

1)To look your best and be photo ready hire a makeup artist.
2)Make sure to book your makeup, hair, and nail appointments well in advance
3)Bring in photos, or tear sheets from magazines to show your hair and makeup artist what kind of look you would like. This saves time, money and stress for you on the day of your event and ensures you will be pleased with the outcome
4)Schedule waxing and facial services a week in advance in case you have an reaction from the service.
5)Don't match your makeup colors or your nails to your dress please!
6)On the day of your event snack lightly on healthy food that will give you stamina and strength as this will be a very chaotic and busy day for you.
7)Don't forget to keep yourself hydrated!

Have a blast! This is your day to shine and be a Princess!
xoxo,
K
